Membership Categories

Candidate
Application for Candidate Membership shall be restricted to individuals who are actively enrolled in medical education and/or training (I.e. Medical Students, Residents, and Fellows). Individuals are eligible for candidate membership till the end of the calendar year following the year in which they completed their training. A Member may not retain Candidate status for more than five (5) years. The application must include verification of fellowship status, a current curriculum vitae, and the application fee of $150. The first year of membership dues for candidate members is waived. Currently yearly membership dues are $250.00 which includes a subscription to the Journal Cornea.

Member
Member category is open to Board Certified Ophthalmologists (ABO or foreign equivalent) or Ph.D.'s engaged in research in visual science. The application must be include the application fee of $150 and a current curriculum vitae. Currently yearly membership dues are $250.00 which includes a subscription to the Journal Cornea.

Member with Thesis
Member with Thesis category is limited to individuals who are Board Certified Ophthalmologists (ABO or foreign equivalent), and completed a fellowship in cornea and external disease of at least one year's duration in a program approved by the Board of Directors, or have a minimum of five (5) years post-residency experience with a substantial portion in cornea and external disease. The application must be sponsored by two (2) Member with Thesis individuals, and include a completed application, curriculum vitae, thesis, and the application fee of $150. The thesis shall represent clinical or basic research work performed after completion of fellowship training. This requirement may also be fulfilled by a published paper in the Journal Cornea. The applicant must be the primary contributor of the paper. Published case reports and small clinical series are not suitable to fulfill the thesis requirement. Currently yearly membership dues are $250.00 which includes a subscription to the Journal Cornea.

Application Process

All information is subject to review and verification by the Board of Directors and the Membership Committee. An applicant shall become a Member upon the majority vote of the Board of Directors, and an affirmative vote by the regular membership, and payment of annual dues.
